How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost?

With so many products and so much awareness focused on the face, the delicate skin of your neck gets easily overlooked. While most of us never think about it, the skin and muscles in your neck are in constant motion, and over time, this leads to loose skin, sagging, and separated visible muscles. A neck lift corrects these issues to restore your slimmer, more contoured neck and jawline.

What is a Neck Lift?

A neck lift may be referred to as a lower rhytidectomy or platysmaplasty, referring to the platysma muscle that helps define your neck. This procedure addresses many of the concerns that affect the neck area over time, including:

  • Sagging jowls
  • Neck bands
  • Loose neck skin or “turkey neck”
  • Stubborn fat around the neck

A neck lift is often performed with a facelift to rejuvenate the entire neck and lower face. If you have concerns about drooping jowls or other signs of aging around your lower face, Dr. Rankin may recommend a facelift to ensure you see the results you hope for.

How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost?

When you search for information about the cost of a plastic surgery procedure, you may find widely varied estimates. Neck lift costs are determined by several factors, including:

  • Your location
  • Your surgeon’s level of skill and experience
  • The details of your treatment plan
  • Surgical fees, anesthesia, and other costs

A realistic estimate for the entire cost of a neck lift is $15,000 to $17,000. If you see a much lower estimate, it may only list the cost of the procedure itself and none of the other expenses. Dr. Rankin and his team believe in transparency, so we recommend a consultation so he can assess your needs and recommend a plan of care.

What is Recovery Like After a Neck Lift?

You can expect to have some swelling in the neck area after your procedure. Discomfort is usually minor and improves within a few days. You may notice that your neck feels tight after your surgery, but this feeling will decrease as the area regains its flexibility. Most people return to work in about a week, and most other activities after about two weeks.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Neck Lift?

If the appearance of your neck affects your confidence, a neck lift may be the best way to restore it. Most healthy adults are good candidates, although they should have realistic expectations about their results.

Individuals who also have concerns about drooping jowls and sagging skin around the lower face as well as the neck may be better candidates for a combined neck lift and facelift. In many cases, achieving the sculpted appearance you want requires both procedures.
