The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Any board of “cosmetic surgery” does not require specific training and therefore does not meet the rigorous demands of the ABMS. These criteria are in place for your safety. Dr Rankin has trained at some of the most prestigious plastic/ cosmetic surgery institutions in the United States. Some surgeons may have board certification in areas other than plastic surgery, such as Otolaryngology/ ENT Surgery, so always ask if you have questions.
