Liposuction in Walnut Creek

Liposuction/ Body Contouring

Most tummy discussions start with a procedure of interest (liposuction, tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, cool sculpting, etc), but we find that this is not the best way to start the conversation. Every procedure is simply a tool that can be used to help you achieve your goals.

We find it is better to discuss what aspect of your abdomen needs to be addressed.

If you don’t like the skin on your stomach, then we need a procedure to address skin. If you don’t like the excess fat, then we need to address the fat. If the muscles and fascia have been damaged by childbirth or weight loss…. you get it. This is a pragmatic way to find the right procedure for you.

Liposuction is an excellent way to address excess fat and achieve the silhouette you desire. There is a modest skin tightening effect associated with liposuction as well. Depending on your heritage and genetics, your body has specific areas that it prefers to store fat. There is no way to spot reduce any of these areas naturally. Even if you are a competitive athlete or body builder, there is a cyclical change in your body contour as maintaining a maximally lean physique year round is not ideal and can be unhealthy particularly in women.

Liposuction is not just limited to the trunk or stomach. Liposuction can be used on any body part in order to enhance contour. Small incisions (5 millimiters) are placed in strategic locations where they can be hidden with underwear or a bathing suit and they typically fade away.

These procedures can be performed as an outpatient. We recommend going to sleep (general anesthesia) for most types of liposuction, and recovery is about 1 week. Due to the large areas treated, swelling can last for a few months before your get to see your final shape. Results will continue to improve up to 1 year from surgery as your body continues to remodel collagen.

If you are preparing for an event (wedding, birthday, vacation, reunion, etc), we recommend surgery no less than 12 weeks before your big day, in order to ensure proper garment sizing and full activity.
