ClearSense™ Nail Fungus Treatment

Nail fungus, also known as onychomycosis, affects an estimated 3% to 12% of the world’s population. Nail fungus is an uncomfortable condition that can lead to long-lasting damage to the nails. ClearSense™ can treat and clear up the appearance of nail fungus so you can feel more comfortable and confident.

ClearSense™ is an FDA-cleared nail fungus treatment that uses laser energy to treat nail infections and improve the clearness of the nail. The laser targets the nail at a specific depth to help treat the infection and resolve symptoms. Common signs and symptoms of nail fungus include:

  • Thicker nails
  • Yellowing of the nails
  • Fragile or brittle nails
  • White spots on the nails
  • Pain in the nailbed

While there are several ways to treat nail fungus, such as anti-fungal creams, many alternatives require a daily application or are largely ineffective. Creams, for example, can not penetrate deep within the nail plate, and fungal infections may quickly return as soon as use is discontinued. ClearSense™ is a highly effective treatment that can temporarily increase the clarity of the nail in just a 15-20 minute session.

ClearSense™ works using the JOULE laser produced by Sciton®. The laser heats up the nail bed, treating the nail fungus and improving the nail’s appearance. During the treatment, you will feel heat emitted from the laser. A topical anesthetic may be applied to reduce any discomfort.

One of our providers will pass a handheld device over the toenails or fingernails that are affected. The laser is tuned to a specific wavelength, allowing the treated area to reach a high temperature that eliminates the nail fungus. The treatment is also customized to reach the specific depth required for each nail.

There is no downtime with ClearSense™, and you can immediately return to your daily activities. After your session, you may experience some redness and swelling around the treated area(s), which should resolve over the first 24 hours. ClearSense™ can require up to four sessions to get the full results of the treatment. This will depend on how severe the nail fungus is.

Good candidates for ClearSense™ are individuals who have onychomycosis or fungal infection of the nails. The best candidates for ClearSense™ treatment will understand that multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal nail clarity. 

ClearSense™ does not offer permanent protection from nail fungus, and it is possible that an infection may return after ClearSense™ treatments. Additional treatments can be performed in the future if a fungal infection is to reoccur.

The cost of ClearSense™ nail fungus treatments can be influenced by several factors, including how many nails are affected and how many sessions are required.
