Breast Lift 101: Everything You Need to Know

Your breasts can start to sag for many reasons, including weight loss, pregnancy, or the effects of aging. A breast lift corrects sagging and restores a lifted and shapely appearance. A breast lift at NorCal Plastic Surgery can restore your youthful breasts and boost your confidence.

What is a Breast Lift?

Lifting and repositioning your breasts is accomplished with a breast lift. This procedure removes excess skin and adjusts the position of your breasts. It can also reposition your areolas so they point forward instead of toward the ground. A breast lift can be performed alone or with other breast procedures.

Breast Lift 101: Everything You Need to Know

If you are considering a breast lift, you most likely have many questions. Dr. Rankin has extensive experience performing these procedures safely and with excellent results.

How Does a Breast Lift Work?

A breast lift removes excess skin and repositions the breasts. Dr. Rankin will determine the best method for your breast lift. This may include an incision around the areola or one that runs vertically under the breast and, if needed, an incision in the breast crease. Excess skin and fat are removed using these incisions, and the remaining skin is tightened to lift the breasts.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?

Ideal candidates for a breast lift have sagging breasts that affect their confidence. You may be a good candidate if you are in good health and have reasonable expectations. We recommend that breast lift candidates maintain a stable weight to ensure their best results. Women who have been treated for breast cancer can have breast lifts as a reconstructive procedure.

Do I Need a Breast Lift or Breast Augmentation?

Many women wonder if they need a breast lift, augmentation, or both. The answer depends on your needs and goals. If you have sagging due to lost breast volume, you may prefer a breast augmentation with your lift to restore that volume. If you are happy with firm, lifted breasts without adding volume, you may choose a breast lift alone.
