What Is Latisse® Used For?

Some people are born with thin, pale lashes. Others notice these effects over time. Latisse® grows longer, darker lashes that draw attention to your eyes. This FDA-approved treatment offers a safe, effective way to improve lash growth.

What is Latisse® Used For?

Latisse® is a prescription medication applied to the eyelashes to improve lash growth. It is used to darken, lengthen, and thicken lashes safely. Latisse® uses a fatty acid called bimatoprost that has been shown to help hair growth. Your body uses this compound naturally to affect hair growth in general. When used daily, Latisse® affects the eyelashes in several ways.

How Does Latisse® Work?

The bimatoprost used in Latisse® improves the appearance of your lashes in two ways. First, it causes more follicles to grow hairs, adding to your lash thickness. It also changes the cycle that your hair follicles follow. It shortens the time your follicles spend in their dormant state, helping each lash last longer and grow back faster. As a result, your lashes look fuller and more dramatic. If you have struggled to find the perfect mascara for your thin lashes, you may now find you do not need any at all.

How Do I Use Latisse®?

You apply Latisse® at night to a clean face after removing your contacts. The product comes with single-use sterile applicators. You will put a drop of Latisse® on the applicator and apply it to the upper lashes only. Wipe away any excess product. You can put your contacts back in after fifteen minutes. You should not use Latisse® on the lower lashes or apply more than recommended. While you should avoid getting it in your eyes, it will not harm them.

Am I a Good Candidate for Latisse®?

If you have short, thin, or hard-to-see lashes, you might be an ideal candidate for Latisse®. This product works best for those with eyelashes that fall out too soon, grow slowly, or do not fill your lash line. Latisse® will not work for all causes of thinning lashes, so discuss any medical problems or medications that might contribute.
