Nonsurgical Body Treatments in the San Francisco Bay Area
Concerns That Resist the Usual Solutions
Some concerns resist the usual solutions. Visible veins remain despite skin care. Skin feels less firm after aging or weight changes. Hair gradually loses density. Weight loss stalls even with sustained effort.
NorCal Plastic Surgery offers focused, nonsurgical treatments for these distinct concerns at our Tiburon and Walnut Creek locations. Options include laser vein removal, medical weight loss with semaglutide, PRP hair injections, and SkinTyte™ skin tightening.
The goal is not to recommend the most treatment. It is to identify the most appropriate one, set honest expectations, and determine when nonsurgical care is likely to be worthwhile.

Each treatment on this page addresses a different concern. During a consultation, our team considers your health, anatomy, priorities, and desired level of improvement before recommending a plan.
Laser Vein Removal
Small red, blue, or purple vessels can draw attention to the face, legs, or arms even when the surrounding skin looks healthy. Laser vein removal directs light energy toward an appropriate visible vessel, causing it to close so the body can gradually clear it.
Treatment is intended for selected cosmetic spider veins, not every form of varicose vein or venous disease. Bulging veins, leg swelling, pain, warmth, skin changes, or other symptoms may require vascular evaluation before aesthetic treatment.
Treated vessels may fade over several weeks, and more than one session may be appropriate. The procedure does not prevent new spider veins from developing elsewhere.
Medical Weight Loss With Semaglutide
Weight is influenced by biology as well as behavior. For qualifying adults with overweight or obesity, medical weight loss with semaglutide may provide clinical support when nutrition and physical activity alone have not produced sustainable progress.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that influences appetite, fullness, and digestion. It is prescribed as part of a broader plan that should include appropriate nutrition, physical activity, and medical monitoring.
Semaglutide does not selectively remove fat from one area and is not a substitute for body-contouring surgery. Candidacy depends on health history, current medications, applicable prescribing criteria, and potential contraindications. Digestive side effects are common, particularly as treatment begins or the dose changes.
PRP Hair Injections
Early hair thinning can alter how a person sees their entire appearance. PRP hair injections use platelet-rich plasma prepared from the patient's own blood to support active but weakened follicles in targeted areas of the scalp.
PRP may be considered for certain patterns of thinning when viable follicles remain. It cannot create new follicles or reliably restore density in areas of advanced hair loss.
Because genetics, hormones, medications, nutritional deficiencies, stress, and medical conditions may all contribute to shedding, treatment planning should begin with an informed assessment. Results develop gradually with the natural hair-growth cycle, and a series of treatments may be recommended.
SkinTyte™ Skin Tightening
Skin may become less firm with age, sun exposure, or changes in weight. SkinTyte™ uses infrared light energy to heat deeper layers of tissue while cooling the skin's surface. This controlled heating encourages gradual collagen remodeling.
SkinTyte™ may improve mild to moderate laxity without incisions or surgical recovery. Results emerge progressively rather than appearing immediately, and multiple sessions may be advised.
The treatment cannot remove substantial excess skin or reproduce the tightening possible with surgery. Patients with more pronounced laxity may be better served by an appropriate surgical body procedure.
Which Body Treatment Matches Your Concern?
The most appropriate starting point depends on what is actually changing:
- Small visible vessels may be suited to laser vein removal.
- Clinically significant excess weight may warrant medical weight-loss evaluation.
- Early or progressive hair thinning may be considered for PRP after its likely cause is assessed.
- Mild to moderate skin laxity may respond to SkinTyte™.
- Localized fat, separated abdominal muscles, or substantial excess skin may require a surgical consultation.
These treatments are not interchangeable. Skin tightening does not remove fat, medical weight loss does not target a single body area, and laser vein removal does not address circulation problems. A precise diagnosis of the concern is essential to a useful recommendation.
When Is Surgery the Better Choice?
Nonsurgical treatment is most effective when the concern is limited and the desired improvement is realistic. Surgery is generally more appropriate when a patient wants a substantial change in contour or needs excess skin, localized fat, or underlying tissue addressed directly.
For example, liposuction removes selected deposits of fat but is not a weight-loss procedure. A tummy tuck may address loose abdominal skin and weakened or separated muscles in appropriate patients. Neither result can be replicated by SkinTyte™ or medication.
Because NorCal Plastic Surgery offers both surgical and nonsurgical options, patients can receive a candid comparison instead of being directed toward the only treatment available.
Who May Be a Candidate?
A candidate for nonsurgical body treatment generally has a clearly defined concern, realistic expectations, and no health condition that makes the selected treatment inappropriate.
Your consultation may include a review of:
- Medical conditions, medications, supplements, and allergies
- Previous treatments or surgeries
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Recent weight changes
- Skin condition, hair-loss pattern, or characteristics of visible veins
- Desired improvement and willingness to complete a treatment series
- Potential contraindications and alternative care
Treatment may be postponed or avoided when there is an active infection, a contraindicated medication, an untreated medical concern, or another factor that increases risk. Some patients may need evaluation by a primary care physician, dermatologist, endocrinologist, or vascular specialist before moving forward.
What Are Treatment and Recovery Like?
The experience varies by service. Laser vein removal and SkinTyte™ use energy-based devices. PRP involves a blood draw followed by scalp injections. Semaglutide is administered according to a medically supervised prescription plan.
Nonsurgical procedures generally involve less recovery than surgery, but "nonsurgical" does not mean free of side effects. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, warmth, or sensitivity may occur after device-based or injectable treatment. Semaglutide may cause nausea, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, or other adverse effects.
Results also follow different timelines. Treated veins fade as the body clears them. Collagen remodeling and hair growth develop gradually. Medical weight loss occurs progressively and depends on the individual response, treatment plan, and lifestyle factors. Maintenance or additional sessions may be needed.
Why Choose NorCal Plastic Surgery?
Body treatments deserve the same level of judgment as facial aesthetics or surgery. A subtle concern should not be overtreated, and a significant concern should not be minimized simply to keep the plan nonsurgical.
NorCal Plastic Surgery brings surgical and nonsurgical care together within one practice. That broader perspective allows our team to explain what each option may accomplish, where its limitations begin, and when another approach deserves consideration.
Patients may review our before-and-after gallery to better understand the range of aesthetic procedures available. Results vary, and photographs cannot predict an individual outcome.
Request a Body Treatment Consultation
Choosing well begins with understanding the concern, not choosing a treatment name. During a complimentary consultation, the NorCal Plastic Surgery team can assess your goals, compare nonsurgical and surgical options when relevant, and explain what a realistic plan may involve.
